What a month June was, the wedding season was fully under way with lots and lots of happy wedding couples and guests enjoying all Glenskirlie has to offer.
The chefs also launched our summertime menu in the Restaurant. The new menu in the Restaurant is simply stunning with lots of seasonal treats appearing, I just love the fact that I have to try all the dishes before we can release them... I have to know what I’m talking about after all!
My favourite trio at the moment is;
Citrus cured salmon with cucumber, rose & tonic gel, Edinburgh gin and calamansi lime… Who doesn’t love cucumber and Gin!
Loin of rabbit with blanquette and rillettes, sweet pickled red cabbage, carrot & cumin puree and parsley cream… Simply delicious the chefs really have excelled themselves!
Chocolate mousse glazed with dark chocolate served with mint ice cream, crème de menthe jelly and mint chocolate crisp… Chocolate mint bliss!
Although my work life improved dramatically with all the menu sampling my personal life took a turn for the worse, Diane decided we needed to decorate the house, aarghhh, now I had managed to hold her off for a good few years but my time was up, even I had to admit things were falling to pieces! I hate home decorating due to the upheaval, early morning rises for the workmen and dust everywhere, so after three weeks of jumping over two sofas and a table to get to my bed at night I decided enough was enough so I booked an apartment in North Berwick for a few days for Florie, Diane, Ruffles and myself.
What a masterstroke that was, we had a ball, especially Florie and Ruffles. We were so lucky with the weather, the sun shone we could paddle in the sea, eat ice cream on the pier wall and watch Florie enjoy herself on the baby carousel and bouncing trampolines. There is a lot to be said for a traditional seaside holiday in Scotland when the weathers good, even when it’s not there is always the rock pool with the wellies but luckily we didn’t need to experience that!
